BACK TO SCHOOL TIPS FOR PARENTS
School resumes soon, and beyond uniforms, books, and fees, there is something even more important to prepare:
👉 your child’s emotional and mental state
1. PREPARE THEM EMOTIONALLY
Resumption can come with mixed feelings:
excitement
anxiety
pressure
Talk to your child.
Ask:
“How do you feel about going back to school?”
Let them express freely.
2. RESET ROUTINE EARLY
Don’t wait till the first school morning.
adjust sleep time
reduce late-night screen time
prepare their body for school schedule
A tired child struggles to learn and behave well.
3. DON’T START WITH PRESSURE
Avoid:
“Read very hard this term”
“Don’t fail again”
Instead, say:
“Do your best”
“I’m here to support you”
Pressure can create fear, not performance.
4. PREPARE THEIR MIND FOR RESPONSIBILITY
Remind them:
to be respectful
to be focused
to make good choices
Character matters as much as academics.
5. TALK ABOUT FRIENDS AND INFLUENCE
School is not just about learning.
It is also about:
relationships
peer pressure
decision making
Guide them to choose their friends wisel
6. BUILD CONFIDENCE
Let your child know:
mistakes are part of learning
they can improve
they are capable
Confidence affects performance.
7. CREATE A SAFE SPACE AT HOME
Let your child know:
“They can always talk to you”
So when something happens in school, they don’t hide it.
Back to school is not just about going back to class. It is about helping your child go back:
prepared, confident and
emotionally stable
Let’s raise children who are not just academically sound, but emotionally strong
